This position is for an experienced Principal Manufacturing Engineer role to join a growing aerospace team with L&T Technology Services (LTTS). As an important part of the Mechanical team here at LTTS, you will actively be providing critical value to our customers by helping to create and ensure robust/repeatable manufacturing processes are put in place.

This role will work with the LTTS team, as well as our major aerospace customer, to provide manufacturing engineering services specifically related to sheet metal work. The successful candidate will write manufacturing processes, and define inspection, cutting, welding, fabrication, and machining needs to best produce a quality product.

This is an on-site position, meaning this role will require working out of the customers facility in Windsor Locks, CT.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and drive manufacturing process optimization activities through MRL tools such as Value Stream Mapping, Process Flow Diagramming, PFMEA, Control Plans, Measurement System Analysis, and yield/cost curves
  • Develop and test effective automated and manual systems
  • Organize and manage manufacturing workflows and resources
  • Improve cycle and lead times
  • Integrate disparate systems (Example: equipment handling, transport)
  • Optimize facility layouts, production lines, machine operations and network performance
  • Identify ways to reduce costs while implementing control methods to prevent quality turn backs
  • Confirms that terms and delivery dates are accurate.
  • Ensure that manufacturing procedures follow safety and environmental regulations
  • Upgrade systems and processes with new technology
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Experience with heat exchangers and/or sheet metal manufacturing (cutting, welding, fabrication, machining, etc) preferred
  • Extensive experience with writing and interpreting technical writing documents
  • Extensive experience in continuous improvement
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent administrative skills.
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in a STEM related field (Science, Technology Engineering or Math with 5+ years of experience or Masters degree in a Stem related field with 3+ years of experience required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of both sitting at a desk working on a computer, and standing/walking in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Travel Requirements:

Up to 10% as needed (local travel to local LTTS site)
