Job Title: PLC- Engineer
Summary of
Role:


The candidate will be primarily responsible for PLC firmware development and programming for
control system. Under minimum supervision, applies functional specifications and uses
engineering tools to design and develop PLC firmware. Generates a road map of detailed
activities from a high-level specification and collaborates with the rest of the team ensuring that
development milestones and deadlines are met. Understand the existing code and generate
required design documentation, code changes, test procedure and test the functionality as
implemented.
Generate Technology transfer documentation for migrating the technology from Engineering to
Manufacturing and ensure smooth deployment of designed system.


RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design &
Development:
(primary function)
• PLC Firmware design to support product changes and new development.
o Design electrical control systems with PLC as controller
o Design and develop PLC firmware for Surface Systems
o Upgrade/Port PLC code from one platform to another
o Read/understand and update control system wiring diagram
o Generate Tests procedures for testing implemented functionality
o Analyse existing control system for issues and identify solutions
o Independently evaluate design and execute tests to meet stated requirements
o Create Product Support Documentation
o Participates and facilitates in Design Reviews

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:


Experience:
• PLC and Programming
o Should be able to understand and draw the electrical schematics for electrohydraulic
control system
o Experience with IEC61131-3 programming languages for multiple PLC platforms,
Schneider’s SCADAPACK and SOFT PLC
▪ Ladder Programming
▪ FBD (Functional Block Diagram)
▪ SFC (Sequential Function Chart)
▪ ST (Structured Text)
o Experience in NI product and LabVIEW development for
▪ Selecting appropriate NI hardware as per product requirement
▪ Data acquisition applications using NI DAQ
▪ Communication protocols (Serial, Ethernet, etc…)
▪ Database and Report generation toolkits
• Communication protocols understanding and implementation
• Troubleshooting prototype of a electromechanical control systems
Qualifications:
• Skills acquired through the completion of an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering
or similar discipline and minimum sufficient years of related experience.
• Completion of a master’s in Electrical Engineering or similar discipline with related
experience will be preferred.
