JOB Description
As a Senior Engineer focusing on engine lab work, combustion simulation, and engine/combustion related data analysis, candidate be responsible for evaluating combinations of engine and fuel technologies that will meet a given set of requirements around power, fuel economy, emissions, sustainability, and other parameters. Incumbent would also work within our simulation community, customer facing teams (product definition), and engine product groups to develop technology sets, derive test plans, and analyze data to models to establish power system solutions for the future.    


Primary responsibilities:


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Responsible for program administration, including budget allocation, milestone reports, and stakeholder updates; program execution, including defining test plans based on simulation, overseeing test execution, data collection, data analysis, and report writing
  •  Performs complex analysis work, identifies design problems, and resolves issues, while managing multiple priorities, bringing contributors from the section or across the enterprise together to work on the project as needed
  •  Responsible for learning and teaching others in engine system technologies  and all their corresponding Work Instructions
  • Desired qualifications and competancy expected:
  • Master’s degree in an accredited Engineering program, plus 4+ years of industry experience with at least 3 years of engine system/component design/test/validation experience
  • 3 or more years of experience leading projects in a gated design system such as  NTI/NPI/CPI system with demonstrated completion of a projects, with focus on delivery 
  • Experience in diesel or gas combustion simulation (GT Power Suite, Converge, StarCD, Python)
  • Alternate fuel technology understanding/experience (natural gas, methanol, ethanol, DME, hydrogen)
  •  
  • Ability to identify process gaps and suggest improvements to streamline product development
  •  
  • Understanding of internal combustion engine concepts (spark ignition, compression ignition, Otto cycle, Diesel cycle, Miller cycle, etc.), components (turbochargers, valve terrain, etc.), and durability/performance requirements (BMEP vs. temperature limits, fatigue limits, emissions, etc.)
  •  
  • Track record of success solving challenging technical problems and delivering projects through completion
  •  Ability to take initiative and drive creative ideas forward, focusing on delivering project results
  •  Ability to thrive and adapt in a high growth, rapidly changing environment
  •  Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills 
  • Ability to communicate technical information in a concise and accurate manner

Qualification:

  • Masters degree in Mechanical  engineering
