Mechanical Engineer
Job Description & Skill Requirement:
- Skill Sets required
• Min. 6 years of mechanical design experience with NPI or R&D product development environment
• Minimum of 3 years of CAD design experience, preferred CREO 7.0. Complex shapes are essential. Experience designing complex mechanical components and assemblies, including moving parts and mechanisms, large assemblies >50 components.
• Perform new design or modify existing designs in Creo Parametric based on electromechanical principles like creepage and clearance.
• Provides complete and detailed CAD models required of all parts and assembles to produce the finished product.
• Understanding of electronic packaging principles and interactions with the hardware team.
• Understanding of Product lifecycle management.
• Thorough understanding of common manufacturing processes applicable for plastic and metal parts and PPAP.
• GD&T/ASME Y14.5, tolerance stack-up, design verification and analysis methods, DFM/A and DFMEA.
• Understanding of product sealing, Ingress protection and other electromechanical regulatory testing standards.
• Working knowledge of applicable standards such as ANSI, NEMA, UL, IEC
• Drives design decisions and is comfortable working as the sole mechanical contributor as part of a much larger engineering team.
• Ability to effectively communicate at a technical level.
• Ability to bring product design from conception to production using a stage-gate development process while working with a cross-functional product marketing, quality, global manufacturing, supplier, and remote engineering team.
• Capable of making basic project decisions with minimal input and leading functional portions of development programs to complete project objectives.
• Excellent communication and time management skills
• Comfortable working with Enterprise Product Data Management (EPDM) systems, preferably SAP.
• Strong written and oral communication skills .
